Matilda’s Invitational presented by Golfkit

There are a lot of junior golf tournaments out there, but I wanted to create something that goes beyond just posting a score.

This event is my way of giving back to the next generation of Finnish girl golfers and helping bridge the gap between where they are now and where they dream of going.

Matilda’s Invitational presented by Golfkit is a three-day tournament and mentorship experience for junior girls in Finland. The competitors will stay together on-site at Linna Golf, which is also my home course in Finland, so there will be a camp-like atmosphere. There will be shared activities during the evening, such as learning about college golf, mental performance, and physical training.

The event is designed for young Finnish golfers who want to compete, learn, and connect with others who share the same goals. It will be held from July 29th to August 1st and the fee to participants is 300€. This includes everything during those few days, so parents can drop their kids off on Wednesday and we will take care of everything!

The week will begin with a Pro-Am (or “Am-Am”) on July 29, followed by three tournament rounds from July 30 through August 1. In addition to the competition, players will have the opportunity to learn from professionals in the sports industry and gain insights that can help them both on and off the golf course. Some of the professionals include my own mental coach Katja Pasanen, top-tier physio Pinja Myllykoski and osteopath Laura Korhonen.

The tournament will count toward the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and provide a fantastic opportunity to compete at the renowned Linna Golf- who have a long history of hosting elite championships and I have no doubt the course will offer a challenging yet fair test for players of all levels.

My hope is that every player leaves the week with new knowledge they can apply to their game, a few new friends, valuable connections, greater confidence in their golf journey, and memories that will last for years to come.

This event is for Finnish junior girls who love golf and want to see how far they can take the game. Whether their dream is to play college golf in the United States, compete professionally, or simply become the best player they can be, I want them to feel supported and inspired.

When I was growing up in Finland, there weren’t too many opportunities to connect directly with players who had walked the path I hoped to follow. I learned a lot through trial and error. If I can help these girls avoid a few mistakes and gain confidence sooner, that is worth everything.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have lived out my dream. From a young girl practicing in Finland to becoming the first Finnish winner on the LPGA Tour, golf has given me more than I ever imagined.

Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to compete alongside the best female golfers in the world and learn from coaches, caddies, and mentors at the highest level. I feel like I have a lot to give.

Matilda’s Invitational is my chance to “sprinkle down” some of that knowledge and help the next generation of Finnish golfers believe that their dreams are possible too. My goal is simply to create something meaningful that can grow year after year and become a special tradition in Finnish junior golf.
